The button opens your email application with the report fields ready to fill in.

What to include in your report

Please check that you are using the latest file available on the game’s page.

  • Game and package: game title, downloaded package name, file used and version, where shown.
  • Platform and model: Amstrad CPC, Atari ST or Falcon, MSX, SAM Coupé, Sinclair QL, Tatung Einstein 256, Timex 2068 or another computer.
  • Format and variant: MGT, DSK, ST, STX, ROM, MDV, IMG, TAP or another format included in the package. For Timex 2068, specify standard TAP or TS-Pico.
  • Environment and configuration: real hardware or emulator name and version, RAM, expansions and interfaces. Also include the computer’s ROM, firmware or TOS and its version where relevant, including for MSX and Sinclair QL.
  • Problem: steps to reproduce it, expected result and actual behaviour. If it affects a particular level or situation, describe it.
  • Useful material: screenshots or a short video, if available; relevant error messages or saved games that help reproduce the problem.

How we test our games

Our games are developed in an emulator. Before publication, AI tests every level and plays the games through to completion in the configurations used for testing. These tests take a considerable amount of time and are documented with video recordings.

Emulator tests are complemented by beta testing on real machines, with human beta testers who also use real QLs. Checks on the original hardware help us identify differences and compatibility problems.

ROMs, emulators and real hardware

Differences between ROMs can affect compatibility, especially on platforms such as the Sinclair QL. Using a ROM different from those used in testing may reveal problems, so please always include your ROM in the report.

Emulators are not perfect: they may be more permissive than the original hardware or reproduce some of its behaviour differently. On the Sinclair QL, for example, differences may arise in the handling of the IPC and other hardware features. A compatibility problem can therefore result from emulation limitations and should not automatically be attributed to AI. We also check these issues, including memory accesses.

The tests cover every level under the conditions used, but some problems may appear in different configurations or situations. Reports therefore remain valuable after publication.

Fixes and updates

When we identify a bug, we work on a fix, publish the updated file and notify the community. Detailed reports help us address the right problem.
